On a Friday we decided it is time to leave Sydney. So we booked a train to Canberra and just by accident we ended up in a travel agency asking for accomodation.
Canberra? Accomodation? THIS weekend? Don't you know ... NO, we didn't know. There was a big car festival and the whole city was booked out!
Well, ok, lets cancel the train and make another plan. But this wasn't so easy. All buses and other trains which were going from Sydney to elsewhere were fully booked out. What? Where is our luck?
ok, lets think. What about hiring a car, driving out of the city to the coast and sleeping in the car to save money? GREAT PLAN. Lets do that. So we did!
We hired a car at around 5 pm and drove to the south. We read in our books about Australia that this part of the coast is one of the most beautiful. Well, YES it is :) We stopped in Kiama to see the blowhole. We had a nice drive thru the city and we slept next to the ocean. In the morning we had breakfast on the rocks and we also had a swim in this great pool. Very refreshing!
And this blowhole was fascinating! It was a little stormy and so the waves were high and it was great to look at this hole!
We picked a few spots to go - like Kangaroo Valley and again some nice lookouts - before we stopped in the early afternoon in Ulladulla. A swim in the ocean again, a short walk in thru the city and again, a sleep in the car. Which was quite comfortable! It is so wonderful to wake up early in the morning, listening to the ocean, watching the sunrise and jumping into the cold water!
Then we just jumped in the car and went on to reach Batemans Bay. A little bit more touristic but soo great beaches again! We love it here!!!
We tried a pub to eat some real food and we visited the cinema to watch "Rumour has it.." A great and funny movie! Lyn, Gwenda - you have to watch!
We stayed the whole day in Batemans Bay, swimming, laying in the sun - just enjoying the day. Another sleep in the car and again waking up with the sunrise and the sound of the ocean. Thats a nice life, isn't it?
But we had to leave this great area to go to Canberra and to give back the car. Of course not before we drove thru the whole city to have a first sightseeing tour.
And then there was a bed waiting for us. Not too bad. But this thing with the car - we will do it again. That was great!
