Our first impression from Melbourne was not really the best one and we already started not to like this city. But everybody gots a second chance. So we had a closer look at this city and it seems to be nicer than on the first day. Melbourne has a quite good tram network and there is also a free tram for tourists. I think, we have visited nearly all sights and also all shops with souvenirs :) But the best thing in Melbourne was and is Peero.
You remember, Peero is working in this nice hostel (Victoria Hall) where staff is smiling and rooms are clean. Peero is from South Africa and 10 months ago he got all documens to immigrate. He invited us to have a beer with him and now we experience hospitality for the first time in Melbourne.
We have started the evening with a pool game in an irish pub. Except of Peero, we are all bad players. But it was fun. After a real south african drink we head off for bowling. Peero is a quite good player, again. AND with both hands. Very impressive. After several fights in air shuffle we had a last drink in another pub. A great evening, lots of fun. Thank you Peero!
After all we decided to like Melbourne and Peero. But then Jenny got ill and only a few days later, I was ill, too. But we had somebody who cared. The orange juice and honey therapy was not really working. That’s why Peero decided we have to have hot chocolate. Well, that’s reallly god medicine. We won’t say no!
With a cab he brought us into the city (which is within 5 minutes walk, but we were ill and it was raining!) and he showed us the best chocolate shop of the world! The best thing: they have a café as well. So we got a table and we had a look at the menu and … WOW! Hot chocolate is good but THIS is great. We had hot chocolate, of course. And we had an exclusive plate with mousse au chocolate, chocolate ice cream, and last but not leas belgium chocolate. Hmmmm, enjoy your meal!
After that we were really choc-a-bloc :)
But that does not count. We need to eat something real, so Peero lead us to a Pancake restaurant. Oh oh, that’s not good. But it was yam, too :)
Peero’s third invitation was quite sad because it was our last day in Melbourne and so we spent the evening with Peero, coffee and chocolate cake in an italian restaurant! To sum up: Peero made our visit to Melbourne to a great visit. He showed us all important spots and we had a good time with him. THANK YOU SO MUCH, PEERO!
