No visit in Melbourne without Phillip Island! We were there with a car and spent a whole day on this island. We were walking along the coast and along the beach (of course, in the water) and we enjoyed the thunderous huge waves. I love the ocean!
After that we visited a koala sanctuary. Yes, we did that before. I know. But this time they had something different: a boardwalk several metres above the ground. So you can see koalas in their natural environment. We passed the first trees without seeing anything. But obviously we were looking not high enough. Do you know how high koalas live! That’s impressive! I would be soooo frightened. Just when we past the boardwalk there was one koala which came from a tree to the boardwalk. He kept us (and my camera) busy for at least 20 minutes. Walking around, having a rest, looking at us, looking at the trees, walking again and finally he climbed back to the trees and had a rest after this exhausting journey. How cute!!!

After that we needed a rest, too (and a power point). So we had another hour in a café. I ordered peppermint tea because I still felt a little bit sick. I got the tea and I got kind of juice with A LOT of ginger. Ohh, yak! How can you drink that? This guy said, it would help me. I was glad, that it didn’t kill me!

The last “sight” we had to visit is the southern part of the island where you can see the penguin parade (and a lot of tourists). I didn’t even know that Australia has Penguins! (By the way, it is freezing cold here at the moment. I already bought two jumpers!) They are so tiny! Only 35 cm. And in the evening they come home from an exhausting day in the ocean and they have to pass all these tourists! But at least it is not allowed to make any pictures or movies. It was so funny to look at them. I think, they better live in the ocean. They just don’t know how to move when they reach the beach. They wag with the whole body and sometimes they just fall down. We had a lot of fun and we were once again really impressed.
